There are 2 types of treatments for HAE
PREVENTATIVE TREATMENT
AIso known as prophylactic treatment, is taken to proactively reduce the frequency and severity of HAE attacks before they happen.
ON-DEMAND TREATMENT
Is taken at the onset of an attack to reduce the swelling and severity of attacks when they do happen.
You should still have access to on-demand treatment, even if you're taking preventative treatment
The HAE treatment guidelines state that people who take preventative treatment must still have access to on-demand treatment in case an attack happens.
In 1 study, up to 90% of people taking preventative treatment reported that they still have HAE attacks.
IT'S IMPORTANT TO STAY AWARE OF ADVANCEMENTS IN ON-DEMAND TREATMENTS
